Length of the live show

Slash View, our show on DFR.gg, is normally filmed somewhere quiet. We wanted to know what it would become elsewhere: in the middle of Paris Games Week, in the noise and the crowd, on a busy day.

Nobody commissioned this. No client, no partnership with the show: we simply asked permission to film there, were granted it, and went with what we had to hand.

The wager

Hold three hours of live broadcast, across several cameras, streamed simultaneously to four platforms. Presenting: Arthur, the agency's president, and PP Garcia, an independent tech journalist. No outside broadcast truck, no production crew, no filming budget.

Arthur and PP Garcia, microphones in hand, filmed backstage at the Eva stand.
The studio was the main aisle.

The whole gallery fitted on one person's back

No flight cases, no cable runs across a hundred metres: the entire setup fitted in a backpack, the cameras were phones, and the crew came down to eight people who know each other inside out.

That is what made the difference: we could follow whatever was happening, move from stand to stand, catch an encounter on the fly. A heavy rig would have pinned us to one spot.

What came of it

  • Three hours live without a single break, on a saturated network and against the noise of a trade show.
  • A community that followed and reacted throughout: questions put live, subjects steered by the chat, reactions carrying straight over to Discord.
  • A spontaneity that three hours on a built set would never have produced.

What this means if you have an event

A live broadcast that holds up does not need a television budget. We proved it on ourselves, in conditions few productions would accept: a noisy venue, a constant crowd, nothing installed for us.

What we did for our own outlet, we do for your brand, on the same principle: the money goes into what ends up on screen, not into logistics.
